§ 28-1. General duties of police officers.

  • It is the duty of police officers to:

    (1)

    Patrol the city at reasonable intervals;

    (2)

    Faithfully execute and enforce all state and city laws under the direction of the city manager;

    (3)

    Give their attention to the enforcement of ordinances of the city;

    (4)

    Perform all duties imposed upon them, as is provided under the general law of the state;

    (5)

    Arrest all offenders;

    (6)

    Suppress all disturbances;

    (7)

    Upon the occasion of fire, to be present, preserve order and protect property; and

    (8)

    Give proper information to strangers.
