§ 58. Control, regulation of fire department.

  • Said city council may provide for the establishment, organization, equipment, management, regulation, government and control of all fire companies of any kind or kinds in said city; may purchase and maintain all necessary buildings, outfits, animals, wagons, tools, implements, machinery and other articles and things of any kind or kinds for the efficient maintenance, control and operation of the same. In all cases of fire or conflagration in said city a majority of the members of the city council who may be present shall, if they shall deem it necessary in order to arrest the progress of such fire or conflagration, may [sic] cause any house to be blown up or pulled down or destroyed or removed, in whole or in part, under their supervision, and none of them shall be responsible to anyone therefor when any such act is so caused to be done in good faith.
