§ 18. Duties of clerk.

  • It shall be the duty of the clerk of the city council to attend the meetings of the council, both regular and special, to keep regular and fair minutes of all proceedings of said city council; to preserve and keep said minutes where the public may, at all reasonable hours, inspect the same, all books, papers and other articles committed to his care by said city council during his continuance in office, subject to the control of said city council, and deliver the same to his successors, and regularly to perform all such other duties as may be by said city council from time to time prescribed, and he shall receive such compensation as such city council shall prescribe.
