§ 46-37. Identification of vehicles.

  • Every taxicab which shall operate on the streets shall have posted, painted or placed on the outside of the body of such vehicle, in lettering not less than two inches in width, the name of the owner or operator of the vehicle. Such taxicab may be operated under an emblem or trade name of the same size and similarly placed on the outside of the body of the taxicab when the true name of the owner shall have been filed in writing with the city clerk. Each licensed taxicab operator/owner shall provide and maintain all operating taxicabs with a designated color scheme, which is uniformly painted and approved by the taxi inspector. The designated scheme shall not conflict with or be deceptively similar in the inspector's opinion to any color scheme used by another taxicab company. If any of the identification markings, including the common color scheme is damaged, the same shall be restored within 15 days.
