§ 36-38. Streets.

  • (a)

    Opening new streets. Before any new street is opened or any existing street is extended, the persons opening such street shall submit a detailed plan with blueprints of the proposed street and other necessary data to the planning and zoning board. It shall be the duty of such board to carefully examine the plans for the number, width, character and location of new streets and alleys, and the size, material and manner of laying water mains and sewer lines, and transmit such application with all data to the city council with its recommendation in writing. Such board shall have the right to make recommendations to the city council for the correction, widening or relocating of any street.

    (b)

    Naming streets, parks. The planning and zoning board may name streets not heretofore named, approve or reject names proposed by owners of the additions or developments, change the names of streets where names of streets are found to be duplicated, and may change the designation of streets where misapplications are found to exist.
